MEET ‘CHILLER SOUND
JON ALTSCHILLER
Jon Altschiller is a veteran mixer, engineer and producer, and the owner of ‘Chiller Sound.
A long time engineer in the New York music scene, Jon started his career engineering sessions all over town for studio albums, jingle work and live capture. Now from his studio based in Pound Ridge NY, Jon continues to record and/or mix various artists, from pop and rock stars (Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Mandy Moore, John Mayer, Simon and Garfunkel) to jam band kings (Phish, Dead & Company, The Brothers). After mixing many projects in 5.1 surround (Foo Fighters, Bonnaroo, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz), Jon has in recent years also become involved with spatial audio and has mixed scores of projects in both Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA (Alicia Keys, Maluma, Bruce Springsteen, etc.)
Jon has also mixed and continues to mix broadcasts and live releases for webcasts for many bands including Phish, Zac Brown Band and Bruce Springsteen, and has taken on mixing entire tours for streaming (Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Dead & Company and Bob Weir and Wolf Brothers). He’s mixed many, many more artists for festival broadcasts, webcasts and live releases for the Bonnaroo music and Arts festival, Lockn’ Festival, Austin city Limits Festival and Life is Good Festival.
In 2009, Jon reconnected with Phish, with whom he worked in the early 90’s on their albums, A picture Of Nectar and Rift. From 2010-2017 the band brought Jon on the road to multitrack record and mix their webcasts and the LivePhish downloads, which they released every night. In 2016, Jon began working with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on their live releases for Nugs.net. He mixed their tour releases in 2016 & 2017 and continues to mix their releases from the archives.
